  1. When will MetaSeal™, the GT product without a cork, be available? We should have product in the marketplace by the end of 2004.

  2. Do retailers find that consumers are interested in wines with a better closure? Yes. To put it simply, it is appealing to sell products that are unique and in demand by consumers. Retailers are extremely enthusiastic to sell wines with GT's new products because of the value added which is so clearly evident to consumers.

  3. Is MetaSeal™ expensive? No, the costs are very competitive with other closure options available in the marketplace.

  4. Isn't MetaSeal™ just a glorified screw cap? No. MetaSeal™ is technically and aesthetically very different from and superior to a screw cap. We like to refer to it as a twist capsule. It provides a better quality and more reliable seal.

  5. Are you sure it doesn't look cheap like a screw cap? See for yourself. The bottles are elegant and stylish. In fact, MetaSeal™ has been designed to look BETTER than a traditional foil capsule since it doesn't have wrinkles or folds or other unattractive flaws commonly found with foil capsules.

  6. Why is it better than a screw cap? The short answer is it works better and it looks better! Screw caps suffer from a variety of issues. Some of these issues are technical and some are psychological. The Company thoroughly evaluated both of these elements as it designed the MetaSeal™ closure. Screw caps are an alternative to using cork-like stoppers for wine, but were not designed specifically for wine. In comparison, MetaSeal™ was designed from the outset to address the technical issues specific to wine and improve sealing characteristics, while also appealing strongly to people's emotions and sense of aesthetics by providing a superb traditional foil-finished appearance. Unlike the negative connotations of screw caps on wine, GT's new MetaSeal™ sends a completely positive message - one that captures the elegance and style that people want from fine wine packaging. For these reasons, MetaSeal™ is far more appealing than the simple screw cap.

  7. Do I have to buy expensive bottling equipment to add to my bottling line? The closures will require some change parts for your line, but we are already working with bottling equipment manufacturers to make this easy and cost effective. We are also building a mobile bottling line for immediate use, and, with no delays, it will be available by early spring of 2004. For production greater than 500-1000 cases, it makes economic sense to apply our product automatically through the use of application machinery designed for GT's product. Since each winery has unique production requirements, the company is developing a range of machines to support bottling speeds from 25 BPM to over 250 BPM. For more information on application machinery, please contact our sales department.

  8. Do I need a new glass mold for this product? We are working with a major glass supplier to provide elegant and functional bottle shapes that are compatible with our products. The standard claret and burgundy style are already available, and new styles are coming on line soon. Any bottle shape or color can be made to be compatible with GT's product.

  9. Do I have to buy glass from Vitro Packaging or can I use my existing glass provider? Vitro Packaging has worked closely with Gardner Technologies over the past year to work through the many technical challenges of bringing this new innovation to market. Vitro's design and development team has spent considerable time and resources to ensure the bottles produced for our product are consistently within the tight tolerances we have specified. Because many wineries have sole-source relationships with glass suppliers, we expect and anticipate that they will want to work with those suppliers to obtain the glass for our package. We are happy to work with those glass manufacturers, but in the meantime and to ensure that wineries have a successful launch with our new products; we recommend that they source glass from Vitro Packaging.

  10. Can Gardner Technologies help my winery with marketing and PR suggestions if I buy MetaSeal™? Absolutely. We have a professional PR team and they can work very closely with the PR team at any winery. In addition, our Advisory Board has a wealth of experience in this area and welcomes the opportunity to assist. The Company also offers comprehensive marketing assistance and planning for wineries using our new products.
